Our CSR commitment
We are aware that the more the years go by, the more the planet is experiencing serious consequences in terms of biodiversity due to global warming. This is why we at VASCOPLAN are actively involved in environmental protection at our level and wish to create a real change and awareness among our customers of environmental issues.
Our environmental values and the current challenges of protecting our biodiversity are elements that we as a company cannot ignore. This is why we are currently partnering with the Selva Viva association in the spring of 2023, to actively participate in the reforestation of the Amazon. Thus, for each sale of a washbasin on our website, we will donate a part of it to participate in the planting of a tree in the Amazon.
Selva viva partnership
Our partnership with the Selva Viva association
Selva Viva is an association based in Rennes that fights for the preservation of the Amazonian forest. Its director, Esmeralda Guzman, is keen to pass on her knowledge and environmental awareness through Selva Viva, which means "Living Forest". This Rennes-based association has been supporting reforestation projects for the past five years in the municipality of Puerto Guzman, in the southern part of the Colombian Amazon, which suffers from a very high rate of deforestation.
This is why it is conducting a tree sponsorship operation, whether you are a company, a private individual, an association, an organisation or simply whether the environmental cause is a subject that particularly concerns you. You are all invited to contribute to this touching cause.
Selva Viva is a main actor in this environmental action, its role is to collect donations, in order to then transfer its treasury to the partner foundation ITARKA based in Colombia.
The ITARKA foundation currently manages an 18-hectare forestry centre, a pilot project of 10,000 trees on 10 hectares run by a former coca farmer who has turned to forestry. More than 900 trees are planted and maintained by young people from the Amazon in the municipality of Puerto Guzman in southern Colombia.
The solid surface and the environment
Did you know that Solid Surface is an environmentally friendly material?
Indeed, synthetic resin is an environmentally friendly material, due to its ecological composition. Our material is nothing more or less than a mixture of 2/3 bauxite stone dust, 1/3 acrylic resin and a touch of pigment if necessary. It emits only a very low level of volatile organic compounds, so it has no impact on the air quality of our environment and is GREENGUARD certified.
This material is also repairable, and by sanding it down again it will return to its original state. This means that it will help to reduce the need to replace the material or furniture and contribute to the conditions of sustainability, to avoid over-consumption.
Solid Surface is also a 100% recyclable material. Another great property is that it can be completely reused in its production cycle, thus avoiding the consumption of new natural resources. Thanks to this, we can extend its life, creating new products. To obtain Terrazzo, it is enough to crush off-cuts from the Solid surface and then reinject them into the material. This way, no material is wasted.
This material is suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. Designed to withstand extreme environments, it will not fade even when exposed to steam, freezing temperatures or when immersed in water. Thus, there is no risk of the material withering away, or of the material itself deteriorating in an outdoor environment. Its resistance is so extreme that it is practically fireproof, thus limiting the spread of fires and is classified as Euroclass B-s1 according to the UNE-EN 13501 standard. It is a product that is also very stable in the face of radiation deterioration (UV), its condition remains unaffected.
The CSR commitment of architects or manufacturers
The environment has become an almost obligatory element in our daily lives. This is why many professionals are also becoming aware of the proper functioning and use of materials in their workplaces. Many architects nowadays are only interested in using responsible materials with manufacturers who are particularly attentive to the environment.
This is why many large commercial and hotel chains use Solid Surface as a material for their interior design. The importance of respect for the environment and the use of eco-friendly products or materials with a good composition that is not polluting have become essential aspects.
The planet has a wealth of resources that we enjoy every day, so it is important nowadays to be aware of this and to do our bit to protect the environment. Whether it's the way we consume or the way we act in our daily lives, every little thing can make a difference. We are not the best, we still have our faults, but we try every day to improve our way of consuming by starting to work with a material that wants to be as natural as possible and by contributing to help people who act daily for environmental protection. So if you also want to participate in your own way to the reforestation of the Colombian forest, your purchase of a washbasin will not be just a need, but it will become a real gesture of generosity towards the planet.
